Anger
I struggle to control my anger.
- Talk to a trustworthy adult about your situation. Talking about it will probably ease your tension and anxiety about the thoughts that you are having. It will also give them an opportunity to show you that they care. Some good places to look for this person are your school or church.
- Talk to your friends and family about the anger. Most likely they have already noticed it. By talking about it with them you will gain their respect and you can ask for their help.
- Your anger could be the result of many different circumstances in your life. High stress levels, recent changes in relationships, unexpected losses, and feelings of uncertainly are just some of the things that can cause anger. Consider what has been going on in your life that may be causing you to be angry.
- In addition to life circumstances, depression can cause anger as well, particularly in Junior High and High School students. If you have been feeling depressed lately check out the Virtual Coach on depression.
- Depending upon the particular way that you experience anger, you may want to consider talking to a professional counselor or licensed social worker.
- Some people who experience anger toward other people will also turn their anger toward their self. If you sometime self-injure check out the Virtual Coach on self-injury.
- Sometimes the best place to begin dealing with anger is to look closely at how the anger affects you. What do you do when you get angry? Work to consider different ways to express your anger. If you need help with this, consider looking for some help with anger management.
