Grief

What do I do: If I want a Christian perspective?

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” –Matthew 5:4

The Bible says that God is close to the brokenhearted and He saves those that are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18). He sees your grief and cares deeply about you. God has compassion for you and desires to comfort you in a way that only he can (2nd Corinthians 1:3).

During times of loss and grief it is very important to remember that you are not alone. God understands loss. He allowed His son, Jesus Christ, to die a horrific death on the cross. Because God understands grief, He knows how you feel. Because He loves you God walks with you through the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23) and supports you with His own strength (Isaiah 41:10).

The most important way for you to experience the love and comfort of God is to have a relationship with his son Jesus Christ. It is within that relationship that our faith in God grows and that we begin to experience victory over all of life’s struggles (1st John 5:4).

Even though you may feel like God has left you or abandoned you in your greatest time of need, understand that he has never left you. In fact He wants for you to come closer to Him so that He can give you the most comfort and help.
