Relationship Addiction
What do I do: I want a Christian Perspective
God is all about relationships and He desires for you to find joy in meaningful relationships. Like so many other things, the enemy comes along and twists something good into something harmful. Because relationship addiction can control a person’s life, God wants for you to find freedom from it.
Your addiction to relationships is affecting your body and your mind in a manner that God never intended. Relationship addiction falls short of God’s plan for your life and also keeps you from experiencing the great life that God desires for you.
In order to experience all that God has in store for you, you must first open your life to Jesus Christ. The Bible says that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! (2nd Corinthians 5:17). The first step in total recovery is to give your life fully to Jesus Christ. Becoming a Christian will not automatically remove the relationship addiction or the urges that you feel, but it will give you a foundation for healing the brokenness associated with the drugs.
In addition to a relationship with Jesus Christ, God wants for you to have strong relationships with other Christians as well. It is within a community of faith that you will most likely find healing for your brokenness and help for your pain.
