How a HopeCoach Can Help with Uncertainty and Fear

NOTE: If you are feeling fear or uncertainty because of an emergency or a threat to your life, call 911 immediately. If you are feeling suicidal, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255, for free confidential, 24/7 help. Or you can reach the Crisis Text Line 24/7 by texting “START” to 741-741. We also have additional suicide prevention resources here.

Fear and uncertainty: two emotions that come up a lot in life. Sometimes they’re caused by an unexpected, sudden change that disrupts our routines. Sometimes we’re afraid and uncertain because our lives get disrupted by world events. And sometimes mental health issues leave us having these feelings no matter what is going on around us.

No matter what is causing you to feel afraid or uncertain, a HopeCoach can help. A HopeCoach is an online mentor, trained by TheHopeLine, to talk through things with anyone trying to sort out messy life issues. Here are some of the ways a HopeCoach can help if you’re feeling afraid or uncertain.

A Listening Ear

One of the most valuable things anyone can do when you’re feeling uncertain or afraid is to listen. A HopeCoach will listen to your concerns without judgment. You will know that someone hears what you have to say, and understands how you’re feeling, without being accused or attacked. Someone listening to me reminds me that I am loved by God and others, and that I am not alone in the feelings I’m experiencing.

A New Perspective

I appreciate talking to someone outside of my family or friend groups about my challenges because they can give me a new perspective. They often see things I can’t about the situations that frighten me or make me feel uncertain. They won’t be able to change the situations, but they can help me find a new outlook that makes problems more manageable.

How Can I Find Hope?

More Support

Sometimes, you may be dealing with a unique challenge that needs additional support. HopeCoaches have a lot of resources at their fingertips. They can help you find partner organizations specific to your needs. Even though things are scary and uncertain, you will have a whole team of people in your corner if you need extra guidance, reassurance, encouragement, or resources.

Safe and Convenient Connection

HopeCoaches are available via email or chat to talk you through uncertainty and fear. It is a safe, convenient way to connect, and we will always respect your privacy.

If you are looking for emotional support during a lockdown, Shelter in Place, or Safer at Home order in the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are here for you. Our HopeCoaches have received additional training to help people deal with these new realities as we face the unknown together.

If you’re feeling scared, lonely, or uncertain, you don’t have to deal with this on your own. We are here for you. Talk to a HopeCoach today via chat or email to start getting support. And don’t give up on your happiness, there is always hope.
