Lying – Why do people lie?

Lying – Why do people lie?

Gretchen Lawson: I have people who come in my office, who talk about recognizing that they’re lying all the time. Lying a lot in relationships, at work, there are many reasons that people lie. People lie to hide their true feelings. They lie because they’re afraid, afraid of what they’re feeling or afraid of what someone might think about what they’re feeling. They lie to protect themselves or someone else. They lie because they’re afraid of what the truth might bring. There are many reasons people do not tell the truth.
